Admission Criteria - Weekend Truancy

The following criteria must be met for the Weekend Truancy Program: 

  • Must be between the ages of 10-18 years, same gender per weekend, no more than 3 years age difference.  Maximum of 10 students per weekend.
  • Must have no active psychosis.
  • Must have an IQ sufficient for comprehension of treatment material (functioning of 70 or above), and reading and writing skills of at least third grade level.
  • Must be willing to participate in the weekend truancy program.
  • Must be court ordered by the Magistrate of Pueblo County
  • Agree to adhere to all policies and procedures of El Pueblo

Referral Process 

  1. Contact President/CEO at 719 404-1131 to ascertain weekend designated for a particular month.
  2. A Referral Packet will be required, which consists of the following:

·        Documentation of current problems that bring about the need for Weekend Truancy services

·        Family and Social History to include:

a.       previous treatment and/or placements, if applicable

b.      previous response to treatment, if applicable

·        High School Transcripts

·        Individualized Education Plan, if applicable

·        Copies of the youth’s birth certificate, social security card, immunization record and record of current school attendance will be required prior to actual admission.

  1. The Community-to-Community Team will review the material to conduct a preliminary assessment of presenting problems regarding substance use/abuse, social, physical health, mental health, psychological concerns, education, and any concerns about assaultive or destructive behavior.

A member of the Community-to-Community Team will mail admission consents and releases required for intake to the parent(s) of the youth to facilitate a smooth intake process
